At VRandstuff, we’ve been blogging about the rumours of a PlayStation 4.5 that could be released in conjunction with PlayStation VR. Whilst this has all been speculation so far, Tony Bartel, the chief operating office at GameStop confirmed the rumours (or near enough) in a presentation at a recent company event.
In his presentation to he explained that “Although we have not modelled extensive growth for new innovation in this presentation, we are very pleased to see the introduction of technology like virtual reality and rumoured new console launches, some of which seem imminent.”
Bartel was asked about which consoles he was referring to, to which he replied “As usual, we know more than we can share.” When a top executive in one of Americas biggest video game stores makes a statement like that then we think its as good a certification from the manufacturer itself.
We’re pretty sure that Sony wont be the only manufacturer to be releasing an upgrade to their console range. We’ve been hearing a lot of rumours about the Nintendo NX and even a hardware upgrade to the Xbox one, despite the current secrecy around it.
Either way, we’re sure all will be revealed at this year’s E3 conference in June. Most manufacturers choose to wait for this event for their big announcements as it’s the worlds biggest gaming show.
