Samsung’s Gear 360 Camera is going to go on sale tomorrow. The device was initially revealed in February this year, but we had heard nothing of a release date until yesterday at Samsung’s developer conference.
Other than technical info, Samsung has been sparse on the release details as of yet, not even giving away the game on price. However, one retailer currently has it advertised for $399.99 which could give us a decent indication.
Despite there being a lot of new VR 360 cameras coming to the market, this is one of the cheapest we’ve seen so far. The low price of this device is great news because as 360 cameras become cheaper and more accessible, we are going to see an influx of 360 content. The camera should perfectly accompany the Gear VR to make for a more immersive viewing experience.
The following video of the Gear 360 has been provided by the team at The Verge:
The keynote went on to explain their vision for the future of VR and the areas that they are trying to improve including: weight, dizziness, image quality, insufficient computing power, restricted mobility and limited input control. Samsung have already revealed that they are working on a pair of headphones that simulate the feeling of movement that should help to counteract dizziness and nausea.
